What Is 5754 Aluminum Coil?

5754 aluminum coil is a wrought aluminum-magnesium alloy commonly associated with the EN AW-5754 designation. Magnesium is the principal alloying element, while smaller amounts of manganese and other elements are controlled to obtain the required alloy chemistry.

Unlike heat-treatable 6xxx alloys, 5754 does not obtain its principal strength through solution heat treatment and aging. Its mechanical condition is instead controlled through rolling, annealing and strain-hardening operations.

Softer conditions such as O offer higher ductility and formability. H111 and other strain-hardened conditions provide increased strength while retaining useful fabrication characteristics. The correct choice therefore depends on whether the priority is forming, welding, structural performance, dimensional stability or a combination of these factors.

5754 Aluminum Coil Tempers

The temper affects how 5754 aluminum coil performs during forming, bending, fabrication and service. Haomei supplies 5754 coil in commonly requested tempers, including O, H111, H112, H22, H24, H32 and H34, with the final choice depending on the required balance of formability, strength and processing conditions.

5754-O

O temper provides the softest condition and the highest formability among the conditions listed here. It is commonly considered when deep drawing, stretching or complex forming requires maximum ductility.

5754-H111

H111 is lightly strain hardened after annealing. It provides a practical balance between formability and strength and is relevant to transportation, marine and general fabricated parts.

5754-H112

H112 is associated with material that has received controlled hot working. It may be selected for products where the processing route and specified mechanical requirements call for this condition.

5754-H22

H22 offers higher strength than the fully annealed condition while retaining useful workability. It can be considered for tanks, formed parts and structural components.

5754-H24

H24 is a more strain-hardened condition than H22. Selection should take account of the forming method, thickness and required mechanical properties.

5754-H32 / H34

H32 and H34 provide increased strength compared with softer tempers. They can be considered where dimensional stability and mechanical performance receive greater priority than maximum formability.

Why Choose 5754 Aluminum Coil?

Corrosion Resistance

The Al-Mg alloy system gives 5754 good resistance to atmospheric, marine and many industrial exposure conditions, making it suitable where long-term environmental durability matters.

Formability

Softer conditions provide useful ductility for bending, stamping, drawing and other forming processes, subject to thickness and tool design.

Weldability

5754 is a weldable non-heat-treatable aluminum alloy. Welding procedures should be designed around the material condition, joint configuration and application requirements.

Lightweight Construction

With a density of approximately 2.66 g/cm³, aluminum provides a useful weight advantage in transportation and mobile structures.

Balanced Fabrication Performance

5754 is often selected when corrosion resistance, moderate strength, forming and welding need to work together rather than maximizing only one property.

Flexible Coil Processing

Coil can be supplied in custom widths or slit dimensions where production capability and customer specifications allow.
