5052 0 aluminum sheet

"5052-O aluminum plate" is a high-quality anti-rust aluminum material that is very suitable for deep and complex plastic forming. With its excellent corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability, 5052-O aluminum plate has become a core material in industries such as automotive, electronics, and shipbuilding. Its O-temper characteristics make it irreplaceable in complex cold-forming applications, while the annealing process ensures softness and stability.

5052 O Aluminum Sheet Plate

Compared with other tempers of 5052 aluminum alloy (such as H12, H14, H16, H18, H24, H32, H34), the O-temper aluminum alloy has the softest hardness and is suitable for processing various shapes and sizes.

5052: This is the alloy designation. It identifies the main alloying elements in the aluminum plate besides aluminum.

O: This is the temper code, describing the hardness, strength, and processing condition of the aluminum plate.

Alloy Grade: 5052

5052 aluminum alloy belongs to the Al-Mg series and is one of the most widely used corrosion-resistant aluminums. Its main characteristics are:

Main alloying element: Magnesium (Mg), with a content of about 2.2-2.8%. This gives it higher strength compared to pure aluminum (such as 1060) and Al-Mn series alloys (such as 3003).

Features:

Temper Code: 0 (O temper)

"0" temper, also written as "O", represents the fully annealed state.

Treatment process: The aluminum material is heated to a certain temperature and held for a period of time, then slowly cooled to completely relieve internal stresses.

Material state:

In short, 5052-0 aluminum sheet is the "softest and most easily formable" 5052 aluminum sheet.

5052-0 Aluminum Sheet

Performance characteristics: Corrosion resistance + High ductility + Low strength.

Main applications: Suitable for processing scenarios requiring deep drawing, severe stamping, complex bending, and high material plasticity.

Comparison of 5052 O with Other Common Tempers

Temper Code Name Characteristics Main Applications
5052 O (0) Annealed Extremely soft, best ductility, lowest strength Deep drawing, complex forming
5052 H32 1/4 Hard Higher strength than O temper, retains some formability Sheet metal processing, interior building panels, ship components
5052 H34 1/2 Hard Higher strength, moderate formability Structural components requiring higher strength
5052 H38 Full Hard Highest strength, difficult to bend and form Applications with strict strength requirements

What is the difference between 5052-H32 and 5052 O?

Temper and Treatment

5052-O (Annealed / Softened)

"O" means fully annealed, soft, and ductile.

No strain hardening; this is the softest form of 5052.

Excellent formability and corrosion resistance.

5052-H32 (Strain-Hardened + Stabilized)

"H32" means strain-hardened and stabilized.

Moderately hard; it has undergone partial cold working.

Higher strength than 5052-O but still reasonably formable.

Formability

Corrosion Resistance

Both have excellent corrosion resistance, especially to salt water and marine environments. Tempering does not significantly affect corrosion resistance.

Applications

5052-O: Applications requiring high formability and corrosion resistance:

Roofing panels, siding, fuel tanks, chemical tanks

5052-H32: Applications requiring higher strength with reasonable formability:

Marine panels, automotive parts, pressure vessels, truck beds
